Terms
These terms cover the text messages sent by We’re Golden, a private family check-in tool operated by Lisa Kingham of HansfordRoad AI in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
What the programme sends
We’re Golden sends alert messages only, to three named family members, about one elderly family member’s twice-daily check-in. A message is sent when a check-in and its reminder are both missed, when a missed check-in is followed by an all-clear, and when check-ins are paused or resumed. The wording of every message is fixed and is quoted on the main page.
There is no marketing, no promotional content, no newsletter, and no third-party content of any kind. Nothing is sold through this programme and there is nothing to buy.
Who can receive messages
Only three named recipients — the adult children of the person checking in — each of whom agreed verbally, in conversation, before the system was set up. There is no sign-up form and no mailing list, because there is no audience beyond those three people. Messages are never sent to anyone else, and phone numbers are never added by anyone but the operator.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies, and in an ordinary month is zero to two messages. The system is silent when everything is fine — no message is sent to confirm a successful check-in.
Cost
We’re Golden is free to its recipients. Message and data rates may apply under the recipient’s own mobile plan.
Stopping messages, and getting help
Reply STOP at any time to opt out of all messages from this number. Reply HELP for help. Both keywords are handled by the mobile carrier and work whatever else the system is doing.
Recipients can also reply PAUSE to suspend check-ins for a day, PAUSE 3 for three days, or RESUME to switch them back on. To have a phone number removed from the system entirely, contact the operator at the address below.
Carriers and delivery
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on networks and devices outside this system’s control, and no message should be relied on as proof that anything has or has not happened.
Not an emergency service
We’re Golden is not an emergency service, not a medical alert system, and not a substitute for one. It does not detect falls, monitor health, or track location, and it cannot summon help. Its only function is to prompt a family member to make a phone call. In an emergency, call 911.
Changes
These terms describe how the system behaves today. If the behaviour changes, this page is updated to match.
